Word On the Street: What Black Men Think About Your Hair
We were curious. We wanted to know what men really thought about our hair. Do they care if we add a few pieces here and there? Would they kick us to the curb if we chopped it all off on a whim? ESSENCE.com hit the streets of New York City to find out. These are their sometimes hair-raising responses. Ladies, take note or (not).

Bottom-line; find a man who likes you for who you are. Funny though, that the men talking about "nappy" are all shaved to the skull so you can’t see their "naps". Self-hate issues affect both our sons and daughters but we have to keep moving forward learning and practicing to be better. Watching what we say around our kids so that we don’t perpetuate this type of thinking. Praise to the men, who like natural, but all self-hate issues aside, I want the freedom to wear my hair blonde, red, nappy, straight, fake and bald. Many women express their style through their hair; I think the general consensus is if you are going to wear a style make it look good.

The comments our like "WOW". I say do what you feel. For years I have been strickly about my hair, I still am. I have worn it long with a perm. Long with a press. Short with a perm. Now I am short wearing it natural. I don't partcularly have a preference but I do say this, don't despise how God made us as black women. People say if it is short and nappy don't wear it. I say search until you find the products that accentuate what you have. Whatever you do, wear it with pride and don't look down on others because they choose to do something different.

"You must have been abused or bullied in school or" YEAH I was when I was in middle school this girl with a wig pushed me in the girls bathroom and did me up the b utt hole with a strap on and then beat me up and stole my money ever since then I hated weaves. There is a fly in the ointment when a man (any nationality) get's badgered because of his opinion. The ladies who are upset need to look within themselves for the root of their anger...point that finger at yourself instead of your brother.
