Word on the Street: Real Women Speak Out on Rihanna
Rihanna
This morning, Diane Sawyer interviewed a teary eyed Rihanna. Of course, we couldn’t help but think about our precious young sisters who look up to this pop princess. So we hit streets of New York City to find out what they thought of her comments. You will be surprised at what some said.

WOMEN WAKE UP!!! DID YOU READ OR HEAR THE POLICE REPORT OF THE INCIDENT???? There is absolutely NOTHING ANY WOMAN could have done to a man to deserve this !!!!!! NOTHING !!!! I hope if Rihanna were ur child u would not make her feel like she caused or deserved it. When are we going to stop with the foolishness???!!!!!

to knothefeelin im sure that the ladies who said that she provoked him to beat her like that were not saying it was ok they were just saying that it had to be a reason for him to go off and mess her face up the way he did and as far as your ex beating you for a piece of hair on the sink he was just physco pure physco there is never a reason to put your hands on anyone whether your male or female and Rihanna also stated that she would not drop the issue so with that being said there is no reason for anyone to provoke someone either so the whole situation was avoidable if you ask me!!!

Everyone is saying that it's not right for a man to hit a woman, but what about a woman putting her hands on a man. It happens. Is it not right for him to fight back when "He" is being attacked? Not saying what Chris did was right but I just have a feeling there is more to this story that's not being told. Bottom line, Men and Women need to keep their hands to themselves. It's not right for anyone to put their hands on another.

You women kill me with the comments that she did something for him to hit her! So I guess that means when my ex beat the sh** out of me because a piece of HAIR was on the bathroom sink he cleaned, then I did something to him too RIGHT? Come on! Like someone else said you are the ones who are in the same kind of relationship as RiRi was. Maybe you're raising "women beaters"? And for those of you who think she's talking because of her album...being abused is one of the hardest things to come out and tell people... and she had to say it to the WORLD!

Wow!!!!!alot of you sisters need serious counseling, scary! How dare you bring up her heritage to justify her being beat & left with a black eye! Young Love!??? This is why our young girls are confused & stay in these harmful realationships. Because DUMB women are are saying,"well honey, what did you do, or say?" Are you crazy? Are we so desperate for men that we will stay by any means nessacary? Ok, her CD is coming out. So what!!! Listen to her message. This happened months ago, & it takes time. Months of counseling & intropection to heal & gain the strength to admit it happened, let alone speak out. She is brave. Alotof you should be ashamed of your comments. I hope you do not have children!!!!!!!!

Listen people...the message is this: Parents teach your sons AND daughters to keep their hands to themselves. I'm not an advocate for violence on any level but Rihanna has admitted in the past that she's had fights with her brother...this is not behavior of an innocent victim. A victim yes but innocent...Heck No! But this is what happens when we allow our kids to live as adults. She's 20 and he 19 at the time of the incident and yet they are galavanting all around the world like grown folk. I don't care how much money they make they are kids and parents need to parent.

i feel that although it is not right for a man to hit a woman, it is not for a woman to hit a man either. Its strange how people treat other stars/people when they break the law and go to jail. Is one crime better than the other? These rap stars go to jail everyday and that does not stop their careers. (such as T.I, lil-wayne, shyne, foxy brown, lil' kim, dmx, just to name a few). Are these role models? Give me a break.

The two should move foward. If they fell to live a personall life as a intimate couple, I hope they can prouduce good talent as professionals and give there fans the perfomance they deserve. Never let hate or anger make you vindictive.

Reading some of these comments has me shaking my head in amazement. Men tend to outweigh a woman by 30+lbs (even when they are young). Their strenght is pretty much doubled, thats why they are called "men". So when does one hit compare to the other? So what does it matter who hit whom first...are you kidding me? I'm sure the women justifying the young Chris Brown's action are the ones that are either in a similar relationship or not raising their sons to be real "men". Either way, you're the ones that need counselling....maybe you should join Rihanna and Chris in a few sessions!

All I know is...if you're man enough to hit a man, then you better be man enough to get hit by one! Women never get blamed for there part in the fight, me as a woman know how to provoke a man.I did it when i was young and dumb, and i've seen other woman do it to there boyfriends. All i'm saying is there are three sides to a story..his side, her side, and the truth. I dont like that Chris is getting all the blame..it's not fair. And yes my first thought was..how funny is it that she's opening up now?? when her cd's about to be released? COME ON!!! A little OBVIOUS!!!
