Who's Down With the GOP?: Famous Black Republicans
This list of African-American Republican actors, sports stars and politicians may surprise you
Former Maryland Lieutenant Governor Michael S. Steele has been described as a conservative Republican. Steele is a practicing Catholic and even spent three years as a seminarian in the Order of St. Augustine, preparing to become a priest.

This joke Mr. Keyes needs help first off the proper documentation had to be provided in order for him to run for president. Once again another sad attempt from the ridiculous REPUBLICANS. This man has yet to prove himself but as far as our present leadership where were all of these question when he STOLE the first election. Focus on standing behind our new leaders coming into office and what you can contribute in a positve way to help this country get back on its feet. You sound really, really bitter and tradgically sad.

My perception of events is always based in spirit. Coming of age in the 60's, Observing the direction of American consciousness, my heart soars like an eagle! Regardless of our political, economic, social or ecuminical beliefs, the time for change has come. We may not agree, but Sen. Obama has opened the door for dialogue. In my voting district, my mother and I were nterviewed by an Essence Mag journalist (on location) about our perceptions of this election. Let me say - categorically - the heart of the nation has been resusitated. Go live, get involved in the lives of our family, communities and our nation. Go Obama!!!!

I am a 62yrs disabled Vietnam Veteran. I have very conservative views on the military and I believe that people on welfare should learn skills to support themselves rather than depend on the Government. But, I have a very serious problem with people who benefited from the Civil Rights movement now wanting to close the door behind them. Clarence Thomas went to Yale Law School under an affirmative action program designed to allow minorities access to colleges and universities traditional off limits. Now, he and others who claim to think like him want to close those roads for minorities but not close the roads for legacy program which serves the affluent. Their hypocrisy on issues across the board hurts my philosophy of “as an American I may disagree with your position on an issue but I will defend with my life your right as an American to have that position”. They should try living that philosophy.
