I was one of those people who thought that my hair wouldn't grow, but after reading all of this, Eugene has changed my mind! Since I don't live in NY, could he PLEASE recommend a stylist in Baltimore, MD that would be able to treat my hair just as he would? |

I appreciate the article but think the stylist is way off base. Hair needs moisture and oils through conditioning and protecting. Some of the items he mentioned are not made with curly/highly coiled hair in mind. I am a stylist in Chicago and I tell my clients to use Olive Oil aloe shampoo and moisture pack when they are travelling or can't get into the salon. In fact, I use the professional size in the salon. It's all about texture, and those products work. Plus, they are tested on black hair, probably because they are black-owned. I love New York, but I think they need to come to Chicago and find out what really works on real hair! |

Ted, Please try Organic Root Stimulator, the brand designed specifically for African-American women suffering from hair loss...and, a product made by a black-owned manufacturer. Our extensive research in the mid-90's pioneered the new "therapeutic hair care" category, and it is our passion to pass the word among those in the know such as you! The ORS Uplifting Shampoo, Hair Mayonnaise, Temple Balm (or Fertilizing Serum), Carrot Oil (or Olive Oil), and other fine products have been copied by many of the companies that you've mentioned. Why not support the original "Healing Hair Care" made for OUR clients? |

I am wearing a texturiser which works well with my hair which is very coarse and thick. I used to always complain about my hair but now realise that I am blessed with very beautiful hair. I texturise every 3 months occasionally get treatments in the salon, but mostly treat it myself every 2 weeks alternating between a moisture treatment( at least once a month) and cholesteral. The biggest difference to my hair is the use of coconut oil( virgin) please check that the oil is not mixed within anything else because mineral oils feature alot in our afro hair products but clog up the pores so natural oils cannot travel outwards. Also drinking losts of water is a must. Hope this helps someone! |

Where can I find the flat irons shown in this ad that have teeth in them? It waould seem that they would not only straighten th hair but detangle it as well. |

I'm happy to have come across this about growing black women's hair. I've had bad stylist, bad relaxers, product that would grow my hair, but the smell was out of this world. Then I found something that would grow my hair nicely, but now I'm on medicine that makes my hair dry & brittle & is taking my hair out. I do use moisturizing hair lotion but it doesn't last all day..What can I do to help... |

Nutress Protein Pack and Stop Break Leave conditioner are the best conditioners I've used. Most of the other product and some black products are owned by L'oreal under different names. Nutress is black owned. The best setting lotion is Lottabody
