I'm a South African and I feel that a lot of writers need to put in more research when they write about this continent and each country in particular. Just as African-Americans get upset and annoyed aboout being stereotyped the same applies. South Africa 101, it is made up of nine provinces, has eleven official language. The region Rev TD Jakes was in is Xhosa, and the women are dressed in traditional Xhosa dress not South African, every tribe has its own traditional dress. I'm a Motswana, there are other tribes and not every one in this country is Zulu. There are others namely: North Sotho, South Sotho, Venda, Xonga, Ndebele, Zulu- yes Miss Oprah's tribe, Xhosa as mentioned, Tswana, Afrikaans, English and Swazi.

I am African-American in the truest sense, being born in america to African parents. I have experienced ignorance on part of African-Africans and Americans. I can recall many years of taunts and tease from African-American children with regards to my last name, culture clothing, skin complexion, braided hair style, parent accents...etc. on the other end, I have dealt with Africans treating my as a second class citizens when I enter their business establishments.
