25 Best Slow Jams of All Time
'Slow Jam' by Midnight Starr
Remember when scoring a slow drag with the object of your (prolonged) desire was the ultimate high? That one dance could be the beginning of a rare and beautiful love thang as long as the deejay kept the slow jams coming. For the lover in you, ESSENCE.com sets the mood with its top favorite 25 slow jams.

some of your picks were great....but somewhere you went off track....there are so many old school love songs that got over looked: fire and desire,...lovin you....ilove you for so many reasons...i do love you...etc...... :)

This list is laughable. What happened to "Reasons" by EWF? What about some Marvin Gaye "Let's Get it On and while I certainly love some of the songs on this list, this doesn't even come close to being the best. What about "Portuguese Love" by Teena Marie. This list looks like it was put together by Generation Xers. In a nutshell, the best slow jams came out of the 70s. Period. There have been beautiful slow jams from each decade and generation but come on now. . .

What??? Who voted for this list??? No Gerald???This list is sooo lax it's not funny. It appears someone born in the 80s or 90s created this list.

I wouldnt say that these are bad songs, but do I think that they were the "best slow jams", NO I DONT THINK SO. There were about four that were great and the others were just good R&B songs. Maybe next time you should ask a couple of different people from different generations.

Wow Essence, this list doesn't even come close to top slow jams. Only about 5 could even make the list, Anita (anything, Prince, Chaka, Angel W. (should have included Rene and Angela) and Luther...but you missed so much GREAT music that would run chill up and down your spine when they were played. ESSENCE TIME FOR A TOP 100!!!

I agree with the other readers, Essence how dare you say this is the top 25 slow jams of all time? You really did a lousy job with this one!!! I can feel you on about half of these songs.....A House is not a home by Luther as the only one listed??? Come on Essence, almost every slow song Luther made should have made the list......DUHHHHHHH
