It's so many great ones, it's hard to get them all! Some of these I like, some --- not so much! I agree with Let's Get It On needing to be on here, but even if you chose 100 songs, you'd miss some.

I have seen many lists on this subject over the years but never have I seen a magazine get it completely wrong!! First off, just take off Jodeci, Mary J, and Kenny L. All nice artists but we're talking best ever. You've got to be kidding with Tyrese and I'm sorry but I've never even heard of Jesse Powell. Also, how can you have a list without any Isley Bros, Al Green and Teddy? Switch, One Way, AWB, more Luther, Phyliss Hyman, Minnie Ripperton. I really want to know the age of your selection panel and if they have ever been to a real house party where you're slow groovin in the basement next to the washer machine. I am 45 and was raised in the era of "sets" (house parties) and besides maybe 4 selections, these songs were never in the rotation. here's an idea...do a reader contest..you'll be surprised to see how off you are with this list. Who ever was the final approver on this list...please take them off all things music related. Thanks

I agree with many of the choices you have, but I think you should also have "Spend My Life With You" by Eric Benet and Tamia.

I'm amazed at all of the generation-bashing that's going on! I'm squarely in Gen-X but you'll find most of the jams mentioned in the comments (and many more!) my collection, and my nieces coming up behind me love these tunes as well. Just because you're of a certain age doesn't mean you like a certain kind of music! Can't we add our suggestions without insulting each other?

You'll never please everybody with a list like this one! I'm enjoying the comments if only to get some ideas for my next slow jams playlist! And "Make It Last Forever" would've been nothing without the powerful pipes of Jackie McGhee!

GOOD JOB BUT HOW ABOUT "MAKE ME SAY IT AGAIN GIRL" (ISLEY BROTHERS), "ALL THIS LOVE" (DEBARGE), "LOVE'S HOLIDAY"(EWF), "INSIDE MY LOVE" (MINNIE RIPPERTON), "SAY YES" (FLOETRY), "SUMPTHIN SUMPTHIN MELLOSMOOTHE (MAXWELL LOVE JONES SOUNDTRACK), I TRY (ANGELA BOFILL), "NEVER FELT THIS WAY" (BRIAN MCKNIGHT), "LADY IN MY LIFE" (MICHAEL JACKSON), "I GET LONELY" (JANET JACKSON), "RAIN" (SWV), "MAKE ME A BELIEVER" (LUTHER VANDROSS) and the list goes on and on and on...

Gods Peace To All! Age I feel played a role in this list but I believe that some songs transcend the years. I remember when Luther Vandross passed away and how I felt. Then I remembered when Gerald Levert passed away my daughter who will be thirty-three soon said to me mommy we feel about Gerald the way that your felt about Luther . I like many of Levert songs. I also remember growing up to listening to my mom and dads songs especially one in particular Johnny Ace-Pledging My Love To You, As for the list where is Barry White,Issac Hayes, LTD-Love Ballard-Maze-I Can't Get Over You-James Brown-Prisoner Of Love-The Manhattans-Lets Just Kiss and Say Goodbye-Phyliss Hyman-Angela Bofill-Will Dowing-Phil Perry the list Goes on! We have many a slow-jam aged and new . Thank -God it usually puts us in a good place and that is what is important!
