25 Best Slow Jams of All Time
'Slow Jam' by Midnight Starr
Remember when scoring a slow drag with the object of your (prolonged) desire was the ultimate high? That one dance could be the beginning of a rare and beautiful love thang as long as the deejay kept the slow jams coming. For the lover in you, ESSENCE.com sets the mood with its top favorite 25 slow jams.

i counted 5 out of 25 that would be worthy..(in my opinion)...no delfonics, spinners, isleys, EWF, ohio players...(any song from the 90's does not deserve to be on this list!!)..al green, chilites, blue magic, marvin gaye, the moments...i could go on....Sorry, your list is tainted....

Essence I know compiling this list was quite hard but what happened to "Say Yes" Floetry, "I'll Make Love to You" Boys II Men, "Do Me" Prince, "Ebony Eyes" Smoke Robinson/Rick James, "We Cry Together" O'Jays, "Yearning For Your Love" Gap Band, "I want to be free" Ohio Players. Those are just a few songs but maybe when you can do a longer list.

Essence, Essence, Essence! This poll truly deserves a RE-DO or makeover. I think that this needs to be a top 100 list of Slow Jam songs. How bout Lenny Williams " I LOVE YOU" or Shirley Murdock " AS WE LAY" Commodores " JUST TO BE CLOSE TO YOU" or even on the hip hop tip LL COOL J's " I need Love" or Heavy D's "Don't You Know" Lillo Thomas " Wanna Make Love to you"

What?! No Teddy Pendergrass, No Al Green, No Teena Marie, No Isley Brothers?! I can't believe you've got Keith Sweat before all of these guys. Ya'll really missed the boat on this one!

Ok...you give good love is the jam. That is my favorite Whitney Houston song. But, some of those songs could not possibly be top 25. Seven Days? come on Essence! Now, forever mine by ojays and angel by anita baker. Whew. Pattie Labelle, Love, need and want you? Omg! Those are slow jams.

Most of your list choices are too young!!!!!!! I'm planning my 50th b'day party song list that'll blow this list away and back again......This must have been a rush list for too many were not listed, seeing Tamia was unbelievable before not seeing Natalie Cole's "Our Love".......Come on get a grip Essence..

Got to agree. This list is subpar. A 'best' slow jams list with no marvin, no teddy, no al (green), no isleys, no ewf? A joke. And don't get me wrong, I LIKE most of the songs on the list. Most don't even make it into the conversation about a real best all time list.

"Are You Serious" how can you forget some of my "All Time Favorite Artists" whom put the Slow in "Slow Jam" by crossing the lines of sensuality long ago. Those groups or persons are: The Isley Bros, The Whispers & how can we forget Mr. Marvin Gaye, with those sensuous moans. As for the ladies for me it's Minnie Ripperton or Toni Braxton, I'm glad you got two persons (right) that I love, which are Anita Baker & Chaka Khan. I guess I acquaint sexy jams as my preference for favorite slow jams.
