For those of you wanting to see the film, it was premiered only in 4 locations initially (LA, Chicago, NY and Atlanta). This friday (Nov. 13th) it will show in various theaters throughout the country.

I read the book on a recommendation by my professor after reading "The Bluest Eye" & wanting to read more about this issue that has been kept silent for so long within the Black community. Sapphire does an excellent job in being a voice for African-American females who face this issue so often, and at the hands of those who are supposed to be loved ones. I, too, am extremely disappointed that "Precious" did not come to any theaters in my area, but I anxiously await its arrival. More authors need to speak out on this occurence that takes place more often than people realilze. Akilah, New Castle, PA

i readed the book and it was a tearjerker i would like to see the movie but its not playing in my area. I would like to compare the book to the movie

I was looking forward to seeing the movie, but can't because it is not playing in my area. I know the previews said in select theaters, but I am disappointed that a billionaire (Oprah) and a millionaire (Tyler) would do such a thing with this movie. I know it must be very good considering Mo'nique may be up for an Oscar nod. And,for the fact, that Tyler Perry projects is always good! Oh well=(

I wanted Precious so bad I brought a boot leg copy and it wasnt the real thing I snaped on the guy because he lied to me. That taught me a lesson never buy boot leg again.

I am so upset that it's only playing in select theaters...I heard it was very raw and is Rated R.
