First Ladies of the NBA
Home Team
As the NBA season winds, with the league’s best inching closer to victory, we go inside the lives of the women who are keeping the hottest players on their toes.
While Lebron James is making buzzer-beating shots, his fiancée, Savannah Brinson, is taking care of their two sons and running The LeBron James Family Foundation. And she always steps out in style, making the high school sweethearts one of the NBA’s most fashionable duos.

this is what I mean! I spend alot of time trying to teach young women how to not accept anything less than they are and then Essence focuses on NBA "wives". If there is so much love, them marry these women and show the world and your CHILDren THAT MARRIAGE is ok. All the money and the fame, yet many NBA players run from their responsbility and the wives (lol) allow it. I don' care what name you put on it, wifey, hs sweetheart, babymama, boo, if it is not legal then you are not his wife and he can discard you and release you from the life you think you love.

Essence is only giving us what they think we want, maybe instead of pointing out the obvious, we should let them understand what we want. Does the NBA have any married couples? If so, can you showcase those first ladies? When you do show case married first ladies, can you tell us something relevant about that woman? Do any of these women have substance? If you want to write an article about women that have babies by wealthy black NBA players, that can be another article tiled (“BA BABYMAMAS). I also, think we can take knowing that black men marry other than black women, this is 2009. Essence your readers expect more from you. Try to do better next time.

Hmm, and this suppose to be a class-act. This piece would have had more appeal and meaning if Essence would have listed only MARRIED NBA couples. I am pretty sure the NBA have plenty more MARRIED couples. The focus should have been less on popularity and more on real married true NBA first ladies. You are truly a first lady when you are married. Being a fiance for nearly 5 years with kids, sitting back soaking up benefits doesn't make you a first lady. I really thought Essence knew better. And please loose the " hating" remarks and face facts.

Not trying to be funny Essence, is it really a sacrifice to accompany your NBA player husband/boyfriend. You said that one of these wives sacrificed a life of her own. I'm not judging her, by all means do what you need to do for your relationship, but is it really a sacrifice when you know the payoff will be millions?

Essence you are slipping please do not mislead your readers with gossip. There is a BIG difference between being a "wifey" and a WIFE. Get real.

Dear LA Laker Fan: Your point is stupid, if you know what magazine this is, Essence=Black women, why would you ask such a dumb question. "where is the mexican woman?"

Kobe's wife is mexican not black, maybe that is why they decided not to show them. I think black men from disadvantage neighborhoods are less apt to marry whether they are rich or poor. It takes them longer. I am glad to see them taking care of their non traditional families. Love to see Lebron and Savannah. The only negative thing people can say about his lifestyle is that he is not married. He is loyal to Savannah and Kudos for that..

That fiancee stuff kills me. Some of these folks have kids and have been engaged for years. Put a ring on it!
