First Ladies of the NBA
Home Team
As the NBA season winds, with the league’s best inching closer to victory, we go inside the lives of the women who are keeping the hottest players on their toes.
While Lebron James is making buzzer-beating shots, his fiancĂ©e, Savannah Brinson, is taking care of their two sons and running The LeBron James Family Foundation. And she always steps out in style, making the high school sweethearts one of the NBA’s most fashionable duos.

La Laker Fan: You really are clueless...let me type this slowly so that you get it...Essence=Black Women not Mexcian, White, Asian etc. The high school drop out would not be mentioned in this article, because this is a magazine geared towards Black women. If Essence changed its focus and was geared toward all women of color you might be making sense. Surely, you are not as ignorant has you appear.

Dear Speaking the Truth - You are stupid and obviously can't read and your comprehension is below ZERO! You've got me mixed up with someone else. I never stated what nationality Kobe's wife was. Furthermore, AGAIN you missed the point it is not about what nationality an individual is. It is about the title of Essence article "First Ladies of the NBA" and "NBA Wives". LaLa, and Savannah just to name a few, are baby mommas. If Essence is going to write an article on WIVES then get it right. Otherwise you need to take your PROZAK and shutup! Read GirlGetAGrip, VonDosta Fuller, T and M, they have something intelligent to say and hit dead on the subject. You are stuck on stupid with quoting something I never mentioned in the first place. Get your facts straight!

Why do some of you hate on lightskin women? I have lightskin. It's so discouraging. Nobody can determine the color of their skin. You honestly think that it's an affront for a darkskin men to have a lightskin wife or a girlfriend. We're both black so what's the problem? Please stop acting as if we're the only race that's messed up. Study your history. Where do you think we learned this type of mentality? I love my people regardless of the shade. And yes I love darkskin men. So?

Maybe I am young and more modern, but to each their own. Lebron has been with Savannagh since high school. I do not think her wanting to support him and starting a family with him makes her have low self worth or trying to get paid. You all are too harsh. kobe and Vanessa were married and look at how he honored those vows. Look at how staged their relationship is for the public. It is sickening to me. Just because people are married does not make them the idol couple. I do not think you can define love based on if a man will marry you. People marry for different reasons and stay together for different reasons. Regardless, if married or not I am glad to see these people loving each other and supporting each other. Not every girl married or in a relationship or decides to have a baby by millionaire is in it for the money. Please stop with all those negative comments.

WOW I can't believe Essence would make such a mistake with these photo's. The women in the photo with Paul is his Ex-Fiance Rebecca that he was with for 10 years, Rebecca is a beautiful women inside and out...you are making Juile look better then she really is by placing Rebecca's photo with Julie's name. This picture of Paul and Rebecca must be at least 4 years old There is no comparison!! ...very wrong!

A lot of the younger athletes have baby mamas, an engagement ring is NOT the real thing. An engagement ring is an intention, not a promise. Why do these women keep having kids with no promise to go with it? Oh, silly me...for the money of the moment. Granted being married doesn't mean it will last, but you if it doesn't work you'll get more than child support. Take a look at Michael Jordan, an article on Kelis & Nas really brought it home. An atty. said that orig. Michael stormed out, but when he SAW THE NUMBERS he took his a s s back home & sat down with Juanita to work out a settlement that wouldn't break him. Baby mamas have NO rights without the ring! Also, being the wife gave Juanita access and rights to build herself up, so she could keep her businesses going and not have to just sit on the sidelines at the games at Michael's beck and call. She started out a baby mama too, but she was smart and quickly changed that.
