I'm glad to see I'm not the only one perplexed by this story. If it's about "NBA Wives"... why are there long-term fiances thrown into the mix? I'm quite sure there are more couples that are happily married in the NBA. Focus on them, that would have made this photo gallery (it's not a 'story', it's a collection of pics) make more sense.

I agree with the previous comments. This article should read NBA fiancee's, baby momma's and jumpoff's!

LA Laker Fan: You obviously don't get rhetoric. Anyway, you did asked about Vanessa... and she is Mexican... right? So in fact you were asking "why is a Mexican lady whose is married to a Black man not included." I thought it strange, that was even a concern...since this is Essence magazine. Why you allowed yourself to get worked up over this is quite amusing. Its been fun but you are a bit too unstable for me. I think for your own sanity you may want to avoid posting on web sites. :)

Perhaps Essence should not post articles like this anymore. It seems to incite a bit a hostility amongst the readers. Can we get articles on "non-celebrity married couples and how they make their marriages work"? There are a lot of marriages in crisis due to money, infidelity, in-laws, etc. We need to hear some stories about successful marriages, not gawk at NBA ballers and judge the status and looks of their women. Enough already...

Umm, please update this... Ben Wallace no longer plays for the Pistons. He plays for the Cleveland Cavs now, and sucks.

I have noticed since last year that Essence has become very superficial and "young minded." The emphasis seems to be on sex, pleasing your man, sex, getting a man, sex, and how to keep a man. There is so much more to a black woman. I don't know if it is staff changes or leadership but with President Barak Obama and First lady Michelle can we rise about the physical and start focusing other things in life besides getting a man?
