South Carolina native Nick Ashford met Bronx girl Valerie Simpson at a Harlem church in 1963. It was love at first sight. The pair formed a group and began pursuing their musical dreams together. Both songwriters and singers, they went on to top the charts together penning hits including “I’m Every Woman," “Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing” and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough." In 2011, Ashford passed away and left Simpson to continue their legacy.
