Michelle Obama's Daily Diary

I guess we should have all expected this. Those same questions about hair we were asked at sleep-away camp, in college dorm rooms and even in the freakin’ boardroom have now become international topics of conversation since we have a Black First Lady. TIME magazine has an article in its latest issue entitled “Why Michelle’s Hair Matters.” It’s a good read but I doubt you’ll really learn anything from it. Whether or not Mrs. Obama relaxes her hair or blows it out (the verdict is still out), whether or not Malia’s natural twists are “appropriate” (really, people?) and that silly to-do the blogosphere made about the faux haircut Lady O rocked a few weeks back should be examples to all of us that the entire world (including Blacks) are still not totally used to the fact that a Black woman is married to the President.

Good news, folks, we’ve got at least four more years to do so.
