While delivering her remarks the First Lady revealed how after law school and joining a corporate firm, she lost her father and a friend about her age died of cancer. Mrs. Obama realized that working for a corporate law firm wasn’t what she wanted her legacy to be.
Public service “is an opportunity to put your faith into action,” the First Lady said wearing a chic black ensemble with a matching bolero. Mrs. Obama also joked that she could have been a “rich lawyer” who just wrote checks to the Obama campaign. Instead, public service has “shaped my life,” she said.
