How I Spent My Summer Vacation: Malia and Sasha Edition
Welcome to Martha's Vineyard!
As First Daughters Malia and Sasha Obama prepare to return to school this week, we take a look back at their amazing summer vacation.
President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama and Malia and Sasha arriving in Martha’s Vineyard. The First Family had a weeklong vacation on the exclusive island of Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts.

Race has nothing to do with it, but those two little girls' are chubby and will grow into fat ladies if their mother does nothing to stop it. With all that world traveling that includes gourmet meals', Gelato as well as meals prepared by White House chefs' it is easy to see why they are getting fat. If this keeps up Michelle would be wise to send both girls' to Fat Camp next year on summer break. I'm not saying this to be mean, but obesity can cause an entire lifetime of health issues' including diabetes, heart trouble, and Hypertension. She owes that to their future as much as the education they are currently getting with world travel and private school. If they don't have good health then they won't be happy or comfortable and everyone wants healthy children. Letting them get fat is just plain wrong.

It's really sad to me that as a race we still equate beauty in terms of being light skinned or dark skinned. The Obamas are a beautiful family. When I look at these pictures I see a beautiful and happy family. Let's stop judging them based on skin color or who's prettier, but instead be happy that finally the black race is being represented in a positive light.

In his letter to his daughters didn't Barack already say how much he loves his two daughters more than we could ever know? He didn't say he loved Malia more than Sasha. I'm not even going to argue over LeLe's comment cause I know Michelle do not want us arguing over her daughters on this website. We come to far. LeLe just trying to start something.

Very unfortunate that someone would say such ignorance. It's so sad in our community how we ourselves with all our different colors stil perpetuate that "Willie Lynch" curse and that surely goes deeper than just how light someone's skin is. Those two kids are so sweet and very pretty. Comments made by some obscure unknown nobody who will never be anything anyway- surely will not bother the Obama's or anyone else who has a modicum of intelligence.

It's great to see our tax dollars paying for vacations of two little ghetto children.

I have been a subscriber to Essence for many years. Over the years, I have felt the urge to write and let you know how this magazine has touched my life but I never did, not until now. Thank you for the SPECIAL MICHAEL JACKSON 30-PAGE TRIBUTE. As one of your article stated, - he made race bow down to humanity, a celebrity akin to touching the sun. As a social worker, I feel regret that he gave us so much and no other human was able to be there for him in his time of need. In the end, I wish he knew how many strangers deeply loved him as a person and cared about all the things he did for humanity. I am one of those strangers. BE AT PEACE M.

Too bad so many miss the point on this board. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion no matter how ignorant we may view some of them to be. I for one am happy and proud of these two beautiful children. Mom for allowing them to be little girls despite their station in life right now. Dad for being a very capable president doing us proud. The girls for just being their natural fun curious sweet selves. Time goes by pretty fast so explore and enjoy first family.

When I see Malia and Sasha I see two pretty lucky girls who are getting life's best at an early age. I wish my life could of been half as exciting.

LeLe, it is apparent that your were the 'black sheep' of your family and the mental abuse you suffered because of it is what you feel others may go through. Girl get some therapy and if you have kids, don't put that ignorance in their heads.
