I think everybody missed the message that Hill was conveying. The concern is for the breakdown of black relationships and that is "We need to have open and honest communication in order for our relationships to grow and flourish. I am a witness that we can have platonic relationships between male and female. My best friend is a black male and we have maintained a friendship for 25+ years. I can share anything with him and I trust him completely. It is truly wonderful to have him as my friend.

I agree with Hill Harper; men and women should be able to be friends, but in this day and time, men make that mighty difficult when all they care about is the bootty!!!! They need to get their minds out of the gutta!!!

whats the deal with a female having a guy as her best friend??No thanks, but I don't need to have a male as my best friend. Also, What does it say about the guy who has a "girl" as his best friend? Something is wrong with that picture., I'll pass.. I definitely wouldn't want to date a guy who has a "girl" as his best friend either. In my book, best friends are of the same makeup.

I believe that there may be a chance that men and women can be friends and nothing more. However I feel that the odds in crossing that line is against it and the consequences can be dyer. The decision to take that chance should be determined case by case. Follow me on twitter @ ladyjishere.
