Out of the zillions of hair and beauty trend launched during New York Fashion Week, but asymmetric, side-swept styles definitely stole the show. The texture, length and specific constructions may have varied, but the coolest 'dos had one thing in common--the hair was parted deeply off-center and swept over to one side. "Simply put, asymmetric styles flatter everyone," says celeb stylist Juan Carlos of NYC's Rita Hazan salon. "Restricted, tight styles can call attention to features you might want to hide, but when you have hair to one side, it's like an optical illusion, distracting the eye. Also, it's just a really easy, chic, fashion-y look!"

“The Rodarte look is at once free-flowing and controlled,” said Aveda lead stylist Odile Gilbert, who created the look backstage. To copy this deeply side-parted, sleek style, prep damp hair with Aveda Smooth Infusion Glossing Straightener ($21) and blow dry smooth with a flat brush. Then, create a clean left side part and flatiron hair all over. Then, pin top half of hair back at the nape of your neck.
