A Hair Story: From Relaxed to Natural
Root Awakening
A low-maintenance type of sister, Miriam Agwai has sported braids, relaxed her tresses, and ultimately got a root awakening when she decided to go chemical- and extensions-free. The New York film student enlisted the help of celebrity stylist Eugene Smith from the Ted Gibson Salon New York, who took her back to her natural locks. ESSENCE.com chronicles Agwai’s switch and explores how she maintains healthy hair.
As told to Qianna Smith

Miriam agwai removes her artificial hair publicly to be popular and her father Martin Luther Agwai removes his underwear to show his old balls and limp penis to get rid of his disguisting feeling of sleeping with Ruth Agwai, infront of any woman available.

PART 2: Reading the ingredients on your products is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. STAY AWAY from any product that contains mineral oil, petroleum, and lanolin. For some naturals, "cones", must be avoided, however some naturals are able to tolerate them. Please visit those websites to find out all about "cones". Also, learn your hair type and cater to your hair - don't try to make your hair cater to you. Finally, the best accessory for rocking a natural, other than some fly earrings, is CONFIDENCE! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, to all the sites and vloggers that are teaching. One word of caution though: be careful of what you hear or read, not all vloggers are knowledgeable about proper hair care. It's not that they are purposefully trying to mislead, they just don't know. Kind of like the stylist in the article, I presume. He didn't mean any harm. So, let's cut him some slack, too.

PART 1: Please Google the following names (listed in no particular order of importance) for AWESOME blogs and sites that are invaluable to newly natural women and men: naturallycurlly, afrobella, newlynatural, maneandchic. curlynikki, motowngirl, nappturality, nappyme. For tutorials, go to youtube and look up the following video loggers aka vloggers: mahoganycurls and shidanatural. These two you tube ladies, among others, have a wealth of knowledge for newly naturals. Unlike the article above states, I have learned that conditioner - the proper kind that is, is your friend. Water is your BEST friend. Water mixed with glycerin is THE TRUTH (spritzed on your hair, lol..do not drink!).

OK ladies, the info in this article is not accurate. If you listen to this guy and skip conditioner for your natural hair you will experience tangling and dryness like you would not believe. You would never be able to comb or brush your hair without discomfort. Also, all hair is not the same. some of our hair does not like oils. Oils seal they do not moisturize. a leave in conditioner with natural ingredients will give you soft hair. His method will send you straight back to your relaxer!

Eccence is totally wrong on this subject no conditioner? It should definitely be the other way around. Black people who go natural should barely use shampoo, it has sulfur in it, which degrease our hair, which is the last thing we need. White people use shampoo because their hair is more oily than ours. this is big misinformation. instead we should use conditioner I'm very disappointed.

I did the same thing and I have no regrets. But i wish they would stop putting all those mineral oil products out there. And make more products that would help natural hair rather than hinder it.

I have been natural for 11 months now, and I don't plan on going back. I love my natural hair. My hair is thick and healthy. The growth is amazing. I actually feel more comfortable in my own skin wearing my hair the way it was meant to be worn.
