ESSENCE.com caught-up with the fierce fashionista, who took time from her headlining U.S. tour to talk style and all things fabulous.

Estelle is HOT!!! I love, Love, LOVE her entire CD. I feel like I could have written it. She is very talented, can rap, sing, and write. Very positive role model and seems like a very down-to-earth sista! If you don't have the album, make that one of your next purchases!!!! She reminds me a lot of Lauryn Hill, kind of sounds like her, and has her same outlook, but not in a copycat way.I hope to see her in the public eye much more in the near future!

When are we going to realize that God made each and everyone of us different. Even our own people tends to find something wrong with us if we are not light skinned with long hair and pointed nose. When are we going to learn to accept each other for the talent we bring and not for the way we look? Wake up people we are who we are and the good thing about it is that God loves us all. The girl can surely sing and I like her style!!!!!!!!!

Juliet, to add to what you said, African American beauty has actually been defined by Western Standards. Even in 'White World' (notwithstanding the 'tan' phenomenon), the more 'fair' you are, blonde hair, blue eyes, the more highly revered you are. It's interesting, tho that in Londan, diversity is more the norm.

Estelle brings that LDN flavour to the states and rocks it well. Estelle knows what she likes and like she said " She's 29yrs" so glad she's more ladlike as well as eccentric. Like Michele O,it's time to put the sterotypes down and bare arms lol.

African American sense of beauty is define by idols like miss B , Rihanna and Halle Berry. In Europe (London) we know that the genes we are born with is not down to you. You have to work with what you have got and Estelle does it with great style.
