Congratulations especially to QUEEN, JR and JAY, you all said it the Best..The next President will have a hard time filling this great families shoes.. They are the first Presidential family that made the American people feel that we existed. Laura B. was always sitting on the sofa with a 2 piece suit on (looking like she always just woke up) always makeup caked on her face. Never hardly saw her touching any children except her own, probably when she was trying to get them to STOP THE DRINKING or other mischevious behavior. MAINLY white America, Please STOP the hating, your racist comments are so Elementary..The Obamas are a beautiful family and "IF" there was a family prior to them that could have fit their description I would not mind giving credit where credit is due.

I was not going to comment but after all of the posts here is my two cents. As an African American mother of 2 daughters and 1 son, I now where my hair natural curly in a very short cut. My daughters who are now teenagers have long permed hair, but as children they were braids, plats, cornrows, twists, you name it, and trust me I didnot have time to run after them every five minutes to brush up their sides. Allow these children to be just that, though they are the first family, life will still be very difficult for them, and for every time they can have a normal day like normal children allow them that. As for Michelle, she is the elegance of all black women, I am proud top be represented by her.

I completely agree that Kyoto's rude comment about the girls' hair is just plain ignorant and displays a measure of self hatred that I can only hope and pray our people will eventually learn to recognise and give up. (Along with calling each other the "N" word and that disgusting "sagging" pants style....) Ugh! Kyoto, read a book, why don't you?

If I supported these magazines before, I would no longer. Now that we have black kids in the White House our kids or worthy of being in the magazines now. Whatever, they can keep their magazines. Jet, Ebony and Essence is good enough for me.

It is refreshing to see that Michelle is allowing the girls hair to be natural and just pressed for special events. There is too much pressure on African-American mothers to press or perm girls hair at a young age so that they can fit in with main stream America.

what i like is that the Obama's have their own minds and are not at all going w pop culture. Black people we need to understand and accept who we "really" are. Too many of us have tried to measure up to what we see on TV, etc. We don't have to assimilate in every way. Just b/c hanna montana and the likes of her wear their hair straight and the Obama girls like them does not means they want to look like them. FYI, many white folks laugh at us b/c they see us struggling to look like them instead of loving who we are, what a shame.

I wish to congratulate the President and his family. You certainly have shown the world that anything is possible. Where i live in Papua New @#$!? we are all proud of President Obama and especially as a family man and how he is supportive of his family and especially the two georgous daughters. They too are great examples to all the young girls of this world, that you can be the President's daughters, and yet still be well grounded. Also their parents allowing them to be young girls, and enjoying girly things. Once again we are all proud of you all, you are all an inspiration to the different races of this world. Great family.
