Queen of the Night
Beyoncé stars as Etta James in “Cadillac Records,” a film inspired by the real-life events of the old-school blues label Chess Records. She is also an executive producer of the film.

When I look a beyonce all I see is a person who's main goal is money. She never displays compassion or humility. In a tv interview she referred to "At Least" as "just a song she sang in the movie" (like it was written for her) didn't even acknowlegde Ms. James. I don't think it was an accident when she snubbed Aretha Franklin at last years Grammy's either. She seems very ruthless and cold. She never sent condolences the Jennifer Hudson (even President Obama made a public statement). Something is not right with the way she treats others. She needs to learn she is not entitled to praise and awards just because she worked on something, you have to earn it! especially as a black woman, we all work hard so she is no different or better.

I'm curious to see this film, but I'm disappointed in the choice of actors. It's not personal I just feel their are better actors who could've made this film a classic. When film companies chose rappers/singers to sell movies, they are often quite boring and you forget the film soon as you walk out of the theather. I guess Tyler Perry is the only producer who still cast real actors in his films and that's why we enjoy his films much more.

I have never posted a comment on a web page before, but I feel the need to do on this one. I have loved essence magazine for a very long time and the comments that I have read regarding Beyonce are anything but what the magazine represents.This was definitely unwornted and uncalled for. I think that Beyonce Knowels-Carter is a beautiful young woman and is talented in her own right. If you don't like her then you don't have to purchase anything the put out and you don't have to see any movie she is in. And more importantly you don't have to talk about it..what if someone at every chance they got slammed you at every moment. You wouldn't like it at all, so WE all need to be a little more considert and compassionate towards each other and represent black women in a positive way.

We all know Beyonce cannot act period and she would have done better with the voice over especially on a classic like At Last but Arsenio got fine with money in other words she married enough money to do whatever she wants to do and somebody is going to pay to hear and see Beyonce but it won't be me!

I wonder if Beyonce was dark skin like India Arie would she be as famous? I wonder if Beyonce's hair was nappy and hard to comb, would she be as rich and famous as she? And if she was dark skin would Jay Z have married her??

i agree she is not an actress neither is she a triple threat. she is still upset about dreamgirls, she should get over it. jennifer hudson can sing rings around her. Etta James should be very dissapointed, i saw a preview of the movie in Nashville she is not an actress. she has beauty and thats about it.

I don't care much for beyonce. Does this make me a hater? she can't act at all. Executive Producer? I was wondering how she got the part. There are more actresses that could have been chosen to play Etta. I heard the song as well. It sounds plain and boring. A little girl on tv sang it way better. Her acting coach should teach her how to remove the southern accent. All her characters sound the same. Deena Jones was from Chicago. How does a person from Chicago sound like they are from Texas. If she wins an oscar i will never watch them again.
