This story just made my heart feel good! They are similar to my guy and I in that we are in our mid thirties, pretty good jobs, close tight knit family and we both want something small, private and very personal. We are both from two different cultures both of which have a penchance for lavish, drawn out celebrations and we are both the only female/male in our families so we can't get away with an elopement or a small city hall ceremony. These two beautiful people have encouraged me that it is entirely possible to respect your family's wishes but still stay true to yourself, your style and what represents you as a couple. Here's too recognizing the difference between a wedding and a marriage, here's to being debt free while still realizing one's dreams! KUDOS and may God grant you a long, lasting marriage!

The couple are both professionals and obviously they could have had the big lavish wedding (I have a strange feeling it would not have broke them) but, they chose to do it their way and it was beautiful. Thanks Essence for this low key wedding because it's a lot of sisters out here that so appreciate encouraging stories like this one.

Prayerfully, this couple will have a very long and very strong marriage. They obviously already know that a "wedding" and a "marriage" are two completely different things and that the pomp and circumstance of the first, has nothing to do with the succcess of the second! Congratulations!
