Only 3% of African American women were able to identify a healthy breakfast printed in a recent issue of Essence according to a study conducted at the University of District of Columbia’s Nutrition and Food Science Department. The healthy breakfast was a shortcake-custard shortcakes breakfast meal, which was featured in March 2008 edition in the special advertising section: ‘Serving with Soul.’ After reviewing the Serving with Soul section in Essence, we noticed that each recipe did not provide nutritional information. Readers should be informed of the calories, fat, carbohydrate, sugars, and protein intake if they select a recipe in the magazine. Essence should hire a registered dietitian (RD) to consult on articles and recipes to ensure readers are getting the information they need to improve and maintain their health. A registered dietitian can help Essence develop and promote culturally sensitive health and nutrition information.

I can't believe some people can be so shallow! Upset because his Cabinet isn't chocked full of Afican-Americans (and I'm an African-American). Obama is putting together a team that will be able to get this country turned around in the right direction, it doesn't matter what color or gender or ethnic group they belong to. That's where Bush got in trouble, handing out positions to those who were not the best in that field and look where that got us. Everyone needs to relax, chill out and let the man do God's work.
