One thing that I find women do when in relationships that is a mistake is to forsake their girlfriends. All of their free time revolves around the guy. They seem to disappear from the face of the earth until there is a problem with the guy. Then they resurface and you can't get rid of them. They don't value their female friendships.

This was dead on im going thru now, but I know Christ should/will be my focus as a single woman working on meand my relationship with God-the lover of my soul. Not putting "brothas on a pedestal."

Stay away from move in relationships, it makes the man too comfortable and can prolong the marriage, because he will feel like he is already married without the commitment.

Elizabeth: A lot of men go for white women because they say black women are too hard to dea with, but the reality is that a lot of white women (not all), just don't place demands for fear of him leaving her. That's not a prize. I feel sorry for ANY woman who does that & HE has a problem. I wouldn't want a man who wants a woman with no or low standards, that makes him the fool, so good riddance! As for your son, he'll be fine, keep God first & he will help you raise to him into a REAL man. People say opposites attract, but we attract what we put out. If a man wanted a woman with low self esteem & approached me I'd have to question what about me made him think I had low self esteem, let's check ourselves!

Don't lower your standards, but do revisit them often and put more into what the person is about than his bank account or how he looks. I know a sister who has an average looking husband, but he's VERY good to her, takes care of his business & because he wears glasses you don't see his eyes. One day she looked elated & dished how wonderful their private time was and that he only LOOKS tame. The next time I saw him, he took his glasses off just to clean them and I saw something I had never paid attention to before. He had the most beautiful eyes & when he looked at his wife I could see the love he has for her. It made me really believe this guy is tops. She is a very Blessed woman. A guy can look like a Clark Kent & be Superman on the inside, but if we don't get beyond the superficial AND take time to get to know a person instead of rushing judgement, we'll never know. I've had 20 years of the same with my husband and wish her & her husband a long happy marriage. They got it right!

we women must stop making men feel they can rule our mind and body. we must be strong and say "enough is enough i deserve some respect"
