Thanks to Essence and Mo'Nique for such a frank and honest story of family sexual abuse and rise from victim to victor. A friend commented, "I don't believe that black people could/would do that to one another (rape their siblings or own children)." I informed her that it happens a great deal in the black community but goes unreported, because we are trained not to air dirty laundry. I applaud Mo'Nique for taking on such a challenging role (Although I must admit that I am almost afraid to see her portrayal, given that the article says she is so compelling in the role.). However, I am convinced that this article and the movie will inform, educate and most of all empower some to save a child or break a vicious cycle. KUDOS to both Essence and Editor-for-a day, Mo'Nique, on a job well done! Angela T. Williams, Tallahassee, Florida
