The 2008 Keep A Child Alive Black Ball
Alicia Keys pumps up the crowd during the fifth annual Keep A Child Alive’s Black Ball at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom. Keys is cofounder of the HIV/AIDS foundation that provides antiretroviral medicine to families in Africa and India. Last night’s annual Black Ball raised nearly $2.4 million.

Since when is being street synonymous with being black? These women all look amazing. And they are super talented to boot and doing big things with their lives. Too bad some of us are such haters.

I met Alicia Keyes in New Orleans at the Essence Music Festival she is gracious and down to earth. We talked for a few minutes -She's beautiful in person and she has a sultry speaking voice as well. Keep living your dream!

So, I wonder if her and Swizz Beats are gonna go public. Since she broke up his marriage and he was at this shindig she hosted. I like some of her songs, but she reminds me of the mixed girls I went to school with that felt they had to prove they were "black" and be all street..
